CliffsNotes on Conrad's Heart of Darkness & The Secret Sharer
Published in Paperback by Cliffs Notes (June, 2000)
Author: Daniel Moran
Average review score:

We are reviewing the "notes" not the book or movie
I could not stand reading or watching anything about Vietnam for about 10 years. I eventually watched the movie " Apocalypse Now" I found it interesting but it did not relate to anything in the central highlands. Later I saw "Pork Lips Now" and could relate this to the movie. Finally someone told me that the whole thing was based on "Heart of Darkness " ISBN: 0486264645. So I decided to read the book. I found it fascinating and much better than the movie. However I could not see the forest of the trees and needed some help in showing me what I was looking at. Because I was not in some school class, I turned to the "Cliffs Notes" Of course my views don't match the notes exactly but they gave me some questions to ask and showed me the forest. The notes include:

· Life of the Author

· Introductions to the Novel

· Lists of Characters

· Brief Plot Synopses

· Summaries & Critical Commentaries

· Critical Essay

· Suggested Essay Topics

· Selected Bibliography

Later I found a movie that was much closer to the original story,

"Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death" (1988)

Clinical Reasoning: The Art and Science of Critical and Creative Thinking
Published in Paperback by Delmar Learning (21 January, 1999)
Authors: Daniel J. Pesut, Joanne Herman, and Pesuit
Average review score:

Every nurse will benefit immensely from reading this book.
In this book, the authors present and explain outcome-present-state model, "a third-generation nursing process model that emphasize reflection, outcome specification, and testing, given the client's story". Given the inevitable trends and growing emphasis on outcome measures in the health care industry, including the demand to document what nurses contribute to health care, there is a need for nurses to develop clinical reasoning skills. They can start by reading about the OPT model in this book. The authors applied the OPT model and its concepts to selected health care issues and needs of clients in different health care contexts. Every nurse who reads this book can relate to the use of the OPT model in a care context similar to his/her respective practice setting. This reader thoroughly enjoyed this book. The subsections are separated (yet integrated) by tables, figures, and "stop and think" exercises designed to reinforce concepts and materials.

Clipper Ship Captain: Daniel McLaughlin and the Glory of the Seas (Pacific Maritime History Series, No 3)
Published in Hardcover by Glencannon Press (01 November, 1997)
Author: Michael Jay Mjelde
Average review score:

A wonderful story of a talented sea Captain.
The research by Michael Jay Mjelde made this book possible. The Captain, Daniel McLaughlin, managed to make 42 trips around the Horn without serious incident. The Captain is my great-grandfather on my mother's side and came from the island of Gran Manan in the bay of Fundy. I would love to hear from others who have read the book.

Cloning
Published in Library Binding by Millbrook Press (October, 1998)
Author: Daniel Cohen
Average review score:

Cloning
This book really helped me learn about cloning, and especially animal cloning. I found losts of reseach from Daniel Cohen's book. If you need a good reseach book or just one to have fun reading, Cloning is a great book. I'll always remember my favorite line out of this book: Animals Are Not Test Tubes With Tales.

CNC Toolbox, top service for machine tools
I like the service approach. Particularly helpful is the listing of industry resources available, and how they vary from company to company.

Coastal Ecosystem Processes
Published in Hardcover by CRC Press (28 October, 1997)
Author: Daniel M., Ph.D Alongi
Average review score:

Extremely readable book
Dr Alongi has produced an excellent book again. Although the book is aimed at university level the ordinary laymen should understand the basic principles. The book looks at the intricacies of food webs found in mangroves, sandy beaches and other coastal habitats. I particularly liked the section that dealt with coral reefs and the interaction of the corals with algae. It gave a clear understanding about a very complex issue. The book has 740 references, an excellent index and is well worth the money. I wholly recommend it.
